Terms of Use

1. Who may use Student Rooms

Student Rooms connects university and college students with landlords and agents offering rooms near Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) and other campuses we support. Students may browse listings, save favourites, post "looking for room" or "looking for roommate" ads, and contact posters. Landlords and agents may register to list rooms with clear fee labels (direct owner or agent fee).

You must provide accurate, current information when registering. You are responsible for your login credentials and all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at hr@vastconnect.co.zw if you suspect unauthorised access.

2. Listings, maps, and contact details

Room listings may include photos, rent, area, amenities, map pins, distance to CUT, and contact phone or email. Map coordinates and routes are provided for convenience; you must verify locations in person before committing to a room. WhatsApp links and phone numbers displayed on listings belong to the poster, not VASTConnect.

Landlords and agents must label listings honestly — including whether you are a direct owner or charge an agent fee — and keep availability and occupancy status up to date.

3. Subscriptions and paid features

Browsing room listings is free. Some features require payment:

• Semester pass ($1): Unlocks direct owner contact details (phone, email, WhatsApp) for listings marked as direct owner for the current semester. Payment is verified by our team before access is granted.
• Landlord directory add-on: Optional paid access to additional landlord contact information where offered.
• Featured listings: Landlords may pay to promote a listing for a limited period, subject to admin approval.

Prices, payment methods (such as EcoCash), and semester dates are shown on the relevant pages. Refunds are at our discretion unless required by law.

4. Acceptable conduct

You agree not to:

• Post false, misleading, duplicate, or fraudulent room or "looking" listings;
• Misrepresent yourself as a direct owner when you charge an agent fee, or vice versa;
• Harass, discriminate against, or exploit other users;
• Upload malware, spam, or unlawful content;
• Scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with platform operations;
• Use Student Rooms for any purpose other than legitimate student accommodation search and listing.

5. User content

You retain ownership of photos, descriptions, and other content you submit. You grant VASTConnect a non-exclusive licence to store, display, and share that content on Student Rooms and related VASTConnect properties for accommodation listing purposes. You represent that you have the right to submit all content and that it does not infringe third-party rights.

6. No vetting or guarantees

VASTConnect is a listing and connection platform only. We do not verify the identity, ownership, criminal history, financial standing, or legitimacy of students, landlords, agents, or properties. We do not conduct background checks, reference checks, or on-site inspections. We do not guarantee that a room is available, safe, suitable, or as described, nor that any tenancy or agreement will succeed.

CUT-area landlord directories and map pins are provided for information; they are not endorsements.

7. Scam and fraud warnings

Never pay money to "secure", "reserve", or "hold" a room through Student Rooms before you have viewed the property and signed a legitimate agreement with the landlord. Be wary of requests for upfront deposits to private accounts, gift cards, or payments to strangers claiming to represent VASTConnect. Legitimate landlords do not charge students a fee to VASTConnect for basic listing access.

Report suspicious listings or messages to hr@vastconnect.co.zw, 0772 533 899, or via Contact Us with listing details and screenshots where possible.

8. Favourites, reviews, and reports

Registered students may save favourites and submit reviews or scam reports. Reviews and reports must be honest and relate to genuine experiences or concerns. We may remove content or restrict accounts that abuse these features.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts, remove listings, or restrict access if we believe you have breached these Terms, posted fraudulent content, or created risk for other users. You may stop using Student Rooms at any time; provisions that by nature should survive termination (including liability limits and indemnity) will continue to apply.

10. Intellectual property

The Student Rooms design, branding, software, and original content owned by VASTConnect are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute platform materials without our written permission.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VASTConnect Technology, its officers, employees, and agents from claims, losses, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Student Rooms, your content, your interactions with other users, or your breach of these Terms.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, VASTConnect shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from use of Student Rooms, including tenancy disputes, property condition, payments between users, or reliance on map or distance information.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Zimbabwe. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Zimbabwe, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Student Rooms after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms where permitted by law.
